Helping people help themselves

Everybody has a dream. It could be something small, like owning a car or a house, or going on a long holiday once a year. And it could be something big, like starting a business, employing thousands of people, and becoming an influencer or changemaker. But while dreams are common, the means to fulfil them are not. This is where we come in.

Launched in 1999, GROW is our flagship skilling programme with a focus on Better Skills & Better Jobs. At its core, it trains employable youth in domain-specific skills to help them build on their aspirations. Their competencies are enhanced, and they’re matched with various employers looking for specific hires. Additionally, to help diverse youth with different educational backgrounds and capabilities, we run the GROW Plus, GROW Fluent and GROW People with Disability initiatives as well. The Covid-19 pandemic led to the introduction of online training modules, which transformed into Grow Digital. In the past months, we have made over 1,200 learning videos.

The idea has always been to upskill the youth so that they not only develop confidence but also go on to becoming contributing members of their family and society. For example, Danappa Gouder from Dharwad, Karnatala, joined the GROW programme and soon got placed at Gati-KWE as an operations associate. “Due to the pandemic, my mother lost her job and our economic condition became poor,” says Danappa. “A neighbour was attending Grow Digital training and I joined too. It helped me improve my communication skills and I soon got a job. I aspire to become a manager in the next five years.”

Our youth are the future of the world, leading us to greater heights. All we do is help them to get there.
